The ICEFC is a collaborative international conference of the Kastamonu University, Mindanao State University, Bogor Agricultural University and Southeast Asian Regional Center for Tropical Biology.
Aims
The main objectives of the ICEFC are;
* To explore innovative strategies for adaptive forest management in response to the increasing frequency and severity of climate-induced environmental extremes,
* To assess the impact of climate change on forests and watershed health and their functionality, and examine nature-based solutions for enhancing their resilience,
* To facilitate knowledge exchange among scientists, policymakers, indigenous communities, and practitioners on sustainable forest conservation practices in the face of climate variability at regional, national, and global levels,
*To promote interdisciplinary collaboration in developing integrated forest and water resource management frameworks that support biodiversity, ecosystem services, and community livelihoods,
* To evaluate current policies and governance mechanisms related to forest and watershed management and recommend policy interventions to build climate resilience.
Theme
The theme of the symposium is "Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Resilience". The theme will bridge forestry, environmental science, social science, and technology, encouraging collaborative research across disciplines. This theme explores how the restoration, protection, and sustainable management of natural ecosystems can serve as cost-effective and scalable solutions to climate change. Nature-based solutions not only help in sequestering atmospheric carbon but also enhance ecosystem resilience, support biodiversity, and improve livelihoods.
